Lutto – Charles GIARDINA passed away in N.O.

GIARDINA Charles Jacob, Sr. passed away at his home on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the age of 79 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was a lifelong resident of St. Rose, where he was a commercial produce farmer his entire life. He was a devoutly religious man, having served as an usher and continually offered his time and talents in service of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served two years in Germany. During his lifetime, he was a man of outstanding character, intelligence and wit. He was generous to all who knew him and endeared by many in the community. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He lived a life of honor and dignity, even in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Audrey Palmisano Giardina; three children and their spouses: Charles J. Giardina, Jr. and wife Phyllis Kernan Giardina; Cheri Giardina Couchis and husband Kevin Couchis; and Charlotte Giardina. Charles is also survived by five grandsons, two granddaughters, and one great-grand son. He also leaves behind two brothers, Joseph Giardina and Jacob Giardina, Sr. and was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Giardina and Nancy Gallo Giardina, and sister Helen Giardina Lambert. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, Thursday, September 8 at 9:30 am until 11:45 am followed by Mass at 12 noon. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
