Dear Friends,

At this writing, I turn to you, Usticessi far and near as well as all you Friends of Ustica to greet you all from this island so special and to ask your economic support to help sustain the expenses of restoring ambience to our beautiful parish church.

The imiial cost to begin the work is 15,000 Euros. From an economic viewpoint, we realize that this is not the best time to request financial support, however, we are forced to try to raise this amount ourselves for this urgent need. On the part of the Province, they will support the required electrical installations necessary, taking into consideration the present economic crisis. They can only promise to support the request by Superior Civil Authorities.

The goal of an established committee, composed of the undersigned, the parish priest, Giuseppe la Barbera, and other members of the Parish Committee of Economic Affairs together with other Usticesi who are collaborating on this project. is to raise the amount necessary to complete this work. Your donations and offerings will be clearly registered and noted.

Pietro Bertucci, Peace in Christ. Thanks to act as our ‘ambassador’.
I ask the favor to kindly convey to Ms. Eugenia Buckel, and all the people who are interested in Ustica, my personal thanks and all of those from the Usticese community . We started to receive donations for the work to be done in the church of Ustica from America. How not to appreciate the interest and generosity for the House of God. Even from far away ! They are even more appreciated !
May the Lord bless Mrs. Eugenia and all those who are working together for this noble and worthy cause, as in the ancient Usticese tradition. Just yesterday some rubble from the ceiling fell on the sacristy. I was there with Mariuccia Giuffria. We were frightened and run away … Yes, we still have problems.

Carissimi,

con la presente mi rivolgo a voi, Usticesi vicini e lontani nonché a tutti gli Amici di Ustica, per farvi giungere un saluto da questa Isola così speciale e per chiedere un sostegno economico volto a sostenere le spese per l’intervento urgente di ristrutturazione di alcuni ambienti della nostra bella chiesa parrocchiale.
Il costo previsto dei primi lavori, che dovrebbero iniziare prima possibile, ammonta a circa € 15.000 – .
Visto il generalizzato momento difficile dal punto di vista economico, siamo costretti a dover trovare noi stessi la somma occorrente per questo primo intervento urgente (dal canto suo la Provincia in altro modo in quanto probabilmente inserirà l’adeguamento dell’impianto elettrico tra gli interventi ammissibili, mentre il Comune, essendo nota la sua crisi economica, può solo promettere di appoggiare le richieste presso gli Organi civili Superiori).
Sono certo che la somma che ognuno vorrà dare liberamente, piccola o grande che sia, sarà data con grande amore.
Allo scopo è stato costituito un comitato, che è composto dal sottoscritto, Parroco; da Giuseppe La Barbera, dagli altri membri del Comitato Parrocchiale per gli Affari Economici e da altri Usticesi che collaborano al progetto. A disposizione per chiarimenti o per donare l’offerta che verrà registrata con chiarezza.

Pietro Bertucci, pax Christi. Grazie per fare da nostro ‘ambasciatore’.
Chiedo il favore di trasmettere gentilmente alla Gent.ma Signora Eugenia Buckel, e a tutte le persone che si sono interessate per Ustica, i ringraziamenti mie e quelli della comunità usticese. Abbiamo cominciato a ricevere offerte per i lavori in chiesa dall’America. Come non apprezzare l’interesse e la generosità per le cose di tutti e per la casa di Dio. Anche a distanza! Ancor più meritevole!
Possa il Signore benedire la signora Eugenia e tutti coloro che stanno collaborando a questa nobile e degna causa. Come nell’antica tradizione usticese. Proprio ieri è caduto del calcinaccio dal soffitto della in sacrestia. Mi trovavo lì con Mariuccia Giuffria. Ci siamo spaventati e siamo scappati … Si, siamo inguaiati.
