Abbiamo notato, nonostante il caldo, la numerosa presenza di pubblico che ha voluto assistere ad un evento molto importante -l’inaugurazione del Museo Archeologico. I reperti archeologici esposti, ben posizionati, segnano il percorso alla scoperta della storia, della cultura e dell’identità di Ustica. E’ stato rimarcato più volte la bontà della scelta del sito che ha inteso “trasformare un luogo di pena in un luogo di cultura…” Abbiamo sentito, anche, molte promesse delle quali non diamo menzione perché, non vorremmo ancora una volta deludere le aspettative del “paziente” usticese… Ci sarebbe piaciuto sentire dal primo cittadino o dal Soprintendente o dall’assessore delegato se e quando verranno abbattute le barriere architettoniche perché, certamente, non dovrà essere il “disabili ad adeguarsi alle imprescindibili esigenze dell’Architettura e dei Funzionari della Soprintendenza”.
E’ stata fatta rimarcare da alcuni cittadini presenti, come nota negativa, ancora una volta l’assenza dell’assessore al turismo… Sindaco, Ustica non ha bisogno di VIP (Very Important People), necessita di un governo dell’Isola che vive i problemi della gente… Tu potresti essere già l’accezione…

Dear Angelo Longo, thank you for taking the time to respond to my comments about the Museo. I see you were born 2 years after me. Very interesting that your father came to New Orleans to work, and you ended up in the most northern part of Italy.
In America, everyone is in love with Italy !!! everyone I see or talk to says, I love to go to Italy or I want to go to Italy. The history there is almost unbelievable !!! Here if something is 200 years old, people are excited. In Italy, especially Sicily, the history almost goes back to the beginning of civilization.
I think Italians are so used to their ancient history all around them, they probably do not value it as much as we do. But it is good to see things are progressing, slowly. Since I visited the Cinque Terra, in year 2000, it has become a protected reserve, when I went to the Segesta Temple last year, they even had a guard there and you are not allowed to enter the temple.
So in Ustica, which is full of ancient history, maybe slowly they will see it’s value and progress into keeping it in good shape.
Se Dio Voile, maybe I meet you someday in Ustica.

Un amico che era a fianco del Sindaco mi ha riferito: – “Il sindaco avrebbe voluto tagliare il nastro ma i collaboratori avevano portato solamente il nastro lasciando nel cassetto le forbici. Il sindaco per due volte ha provato a tagliare il nastro facendolo passare tra l’indice ed il medio ma non c’è riuscito…
Ha cercato collaborazione ad una signora che gli ha offerto l’accendino…  è stato rifiutato perché non erano stati avvertiti i pompieri…
Il sindaco, allora, in regime di ristrettezze economiche ha pensato bene di sciogliere il nastro e conservarlo per la prossima inaugurazione…”

La verità, comunque l’abbiamo saputo in serata. I collaboratori hanno deciso, per motivi esclusivamente scaramantici, di non far tagliare il nastro perché nessun taglio del nastro era andato a buon fine.

Pietro, nel passare in rivista le foto che con la consueta puntualità hai pubblicato in occasione dell’inaugurazione del Museo Archeologico di Ustica non è sfuggito alla mia attenzione che il Sindaco non ha “TAGLIATO” il tradizionale nastro come in uso in manifestazioni del genere bensì lo ha “SCIOLTO” con le mani. E’ stata utilizzata una vigente nuova variante al protocollo ? una cercata personalizzazione del gesto ? una singolare rottura con la tradizione ? in due parole: come maì ?

Hi Marlene, i thought like you, this must be the new venue, is not in the Tower overlooking the city but about in the Village’s center, near the Ambulatory and i am sure has some ancient artifacts of Ustica. I saw Vito and is on pic. n.4577.

Very nice, bravo !! for Museo !! I have some questions: Is it located in one of the Towers ?? Does it also have some of the artifacts of ancient Ustica ?? I did not see Vito Ailari in the group ?? I always thought Vito is the Island Historian. Was he on vacation ?? Missed seeing him.
