Intervento conservativo di restauro e di valorizzazione della statua lignea di San Bartolomeo
È in atto ad Ustica una raccolta fondi, organizzata da Padre Lorenzo Tripoli e da alcuni parrocchiani, per restaurare la statua lignea di San Bartolomeo, Patrono della nostra Isola. Le spese sono consistenti (superiori a 6.000 €) in quanto l’opera versa in cattive condizioni e conseguentemente necessita di un urgente ed accurato intervento da affidare ad un affermato restauratore.
Se non si interverrà al più presto, si correrà il rischio di perdere la più importante espressione artistica della nostra Isola, risalente al XVIII sec., e vincolata dalla soprintendenza, nonché un pezzo di riferimento della nostra storia oltre che simbolo di forte devozione per intere generazioni di usticesi.
L’appello ai tanti devoti del nostro Protettore, che risiedono in ogni angolo del mondo, ed in particolare ai devoti di New Orleans che onorano San Bartolomeo nei momenti di festa per la ricorrenza a lui dedicata, e a tutti coloro i quali abbiano il piacere di contribuire al restauro, con l’invito a inviare un’offerta libera tramite bonifico bancario con la causale:

NOTE relativamente alla statua
L’opera rappresenta in esempio assoluto per la statuaria lignea siciliana del XVIII secolo, date le alte qualità tecniche esecutive riscontrate e dei materiali impiegati. La raffinatezza esecutiva dell’opera è visibile dalla cura con cui sono stati eseguiti i piccoli dettagli iconografici e dal realismo anatomico.
La statua presenta stratificazioni disomogenee, alterazione cromatica della superficie a causa di uno spesso strato di vernici protettive applicato grossolanamente in un precedente intervento di restauro, fatturazioni di origine meccanica, mancanza di contenute porzioni lignee, numerose abrasioni e lacune della superficie pittorica originale, che portano alla luce spessori e materiali costruttivi del manufatto.

Conservative intervention of restoration and enhancement of the wooden statue of San Bartolomeo
A fundraising is underway in Ustica. It has been organized by Father Lorenzo Tripoli and some parishioners, aiming at the restoration of the wooden statue of San Bartolomeo, patron of our island. The costs are substantial (over € 6,000) as the artwork is in poor condition, and consequently requires an urgent and accurate intervention to be entrusted to an established restorer.
If we do not take action as soon as possible, we will run the risk of losing the most important artistic expression of our island, dating back to the eighteenth century, and bound by the superintendency, as well as a reference piece of our history as well as a symbol of strong devotion for entire generations of usticesi.
We appeal to the many devotees of our Protector, who live in every corner of the world, and in particular to the devotees of New Orleans, who honor St. Bartholomew in moments of celebration for the anniversary dedicated to him, and to all those who have the pleasure of contributing to the restoration, and invite them to send a free offer by bank transfer with the following reason:

NOTES about the statue
The work represents an absolute example for the Sicilian wooden statuary of the XVIII century, given the high technical execution qualities found and the materials used. The care taken in the execution of small iconographic details and anatomical realism, shows the high executive refinement of the articraft.
The statue has uneven stratifications, chromatic alteration of the surface, due to a thick layer of protective paints applied roughly in a previous restoration, invoices of mechanical origin, lack of contained wooden portions, numerous abrasions and gaps in the original pictorial surface, which lead in light of the thicknesses and construction materials of the artwork.
